Frequently Asked Questions:

Are there tryouts for Local League?

There are no tryouts for Local League; players are accepted upon registration provided they meet the age requirements for the division until the team is full. Once a Team is full a second team is started.
All Players are welcome, but Out of Town residents are subject to a Non Resident Fee of $30.

See full registration policies on registration tab for the 2019-2020 season.

How many games will we play?

Local League Season consists of a 26 game regular season. 13 Home games and 13 Away games for the age groups Atom to Midget.

Local League teams have the unique opportunity to travel to the surrounding centres within their division in the Simcoe Region Local League to play & participate in a representative style hockey experience. They will proudly represent Our Town, Our Team, by Playing Hockey.

SRLL link will provide reference of what each division looked like last season; number of teams in loop, regular season stats and recent playoff views.

My Player is a Goalie, How does this work per team and division?

Goalies are assigned to a team based upon numbers.  Teams can have up to 2 goalies, Goalies will share the responsibilities.  If a division has two teams and only two goalies, then balancing of the teams will take place at the start of the season as per balancing policies of IMHA and SRLL.

What is the schedule? When do we receive it?

Game schedules are created at a scheduling meeting for Coaches and Managers in September and released once finalized.  The season runs from the first week in October to March and teams will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments (up to 3 depending upon each team’s direction) and exhibition games throughout their season. Practices will be once per week.

Is there a Select program?

Select teams are always considered based on the criteria of player numbers per division, available coaching staff, and family commitment interest.
All factors are considered during September of the current season for the viability of a Select program for all Divisions whether for an exhibition loop or tournament teams.
York Simcoe Minor Hockey League coordinates a exhibition style loop for all interested centres that qualify for Select programs.
