Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to complete and upload your Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) to the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF):

 Step 1: Understand the Requirements

  1. Eligibility: All individuals aged 18 and over who will be interacting with players (e.g., coaches, trainers, managers, on-ice officials) must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
  2. Timing: Ensure your VSC is up to date for the 2024-2025 season. Checks from 2022, 2023, or 2024 are acceptable. If you submitted a receipt for your VSC, you must submit the validated check by December 1, 2024.

Step 2: Start the VSC Process

  1. Request a VSC: Visit your local police service's website or office to request a Vulnerable Sector Check, in our case we are looking for South Simcoe Police’s portal by CLICKING HERE. You will likely need a letter from the OHF to facilitate this process. The letter is available by CLICKING HERE.
  2. Wait for Processing: The VSC processing time can vary, so plan ahead to avoid delays in your ability to participate in sanctioned activities.

Step 3: Prepare for Uploading

  1. Gather Necessary Documents: Once you receive your VSC, ensure you have both a digital copy (scanned or photographed) and any receipt or confirmation of your request if your VSC is still pending.
  2. Create or Access Your Spordle Account: Ensure you have an active Spordle account, which is connected to the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR). This account is crucial for uploading your documents. CLICK HERE TO ACCESS SPORDLE

Step 4: Upload Your VSC to OHF

  1. Log into Spordle: Access your Spordle account and navigate to the section where you can upload documents.
  2. Upload Your VSC: Follow the prompts to upload your VSC document. If your VSC is pending, upload the receipt and ensure your Declaration is completed.
  3. Check Status: After uploading, check the status in your Spordle account. You will see a green or red button indicating whether your submission was approved or if further action is needed.

Step 5: Monitor Your Status

  1. Check Approval: The OHF typically processes VSC submissions within 1-3 business days. If there are any issues, you will be notified via email.
  2. Ensure You Are Rostered: Once your VSC is approved, confirm that you are properly rostered by checking the History tab and Background Check section in your HCR profile.

Step 6: Final Steps

  1. Follow Up if Needed: If your VSC is delayed, continue to monitor your status and keep your receipt handy as proof of submission.
  2. Stay Informed: Keep an eye on updates or changes to the process by referring to the OHF website and your association’s communication.

By following these steps, you’ll ensure that you are fully compliant with the OHF’s requirements and can participate in the upcoming hockey season without interruption.
