Local League Hockey
The Innisfil Minor Hockey Association (IMHA) offers a Local League Hockey Program with teams competing in the Simcoe Region Local League (SRLL). These teams, U5 and U7 through to U18 and U21, play teams from other centres that may include Lefroy, Beeton, Thornton, Nobleking, Bradford, Richmond Hill, TNT, East Gwillimbury, and Schomberg.
Local League teams offer a fun and fair place for players to experience and enjoy the game and develop their skills.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Are there tryouts for Local League?
There are no tryouts for Local League; players are accepted upon registration provided they meet the age requirements for the division until the team is full. Once a Team is full a second team is started. Out of town residents are welcome, but must pay the extra town fee of $30.
How many games will we play?
Information on games will be updated as it becomes available.
My Player is a Goalie, How does this work per team and division ?
Goalies are assigned to a team based upon numbers. Team one can have up to 2 goalies. 2 Goalies per team; Goalies will then share the responsibilities. If a division has two teams and only two goalies, then balancing of the teams will take place at the start of the season as per balancing policies of IMHA and SRLL.
What is the schedule? When do we receive it?
*Schedules may differ due to Covid-19 rules and regulations*
Game schedules are created at a scheduling meeting for Coaches and Managers in September and released once finalized. The season runs from the first week in October to March (U5 and U7 games start in December) and teams will have the opportunity to participate in tournaments (up to 4 depending upon each team’s direction) and exhibition games throughout their season. Practices will be usually once per week depending on ice availability and not shared practice ice depending upon age level.
Is there a Select program?
Select teams have been done in the past and can be looked at depending upon the availability of players and coaching staff for each division to compete at a Select level for games and tournaments.
Is there body checking in Local League?
NO – Body Checking was removed from Local League at all divisions. Body Checking begins now in Rep only at the Bantam level divisions. Information on contact and body checking can be found on the OMHA’s website
What kind of ice time do players get?
Under the guidance of the SRLL the IMHA advocates a fair ice time policy for all players regardless of skill level.
