IMHA Rostered Select Program 2019-2020

The Innisfil Minor Hockey Association’s (IMHA) goal for the 2019-2020 season is to provide a Rostered Select program at each level from Atom to Midget. A Rostered Select team is comprised of players selected from our Local League (LL) teams.  For a division to qualify there must be at least 2 LL teams iced in that specific age group. If possible, depending on player registration numbers, we will strive to offer a Rostered Select team at both the Minor and Major level of each division. (i.e.: to ice a Minor Atom and Major Atom Rostered Select team, we would require at least 3 – 4 Atom LL teams with enough eligible players at both age groups.)

Our Rostered Select teams will be part of an enhanced development program that will offer players an opportunity to play at a more competitive level while continuing to be part of our LL programming.

To be eligible to participate, players must be registered to an IMHA Local League team. GOOD NEWS! Residency rules no longer apply for Roster Select.

Rostered Select teams do not have tryouts. Players will be evaluated during team balancing sessions, practices and/or games that may take place with their respective Local League team. Determination of qualified players will be made by a special Selection committee consisting of but not limited to a Rostered Select Coach, an Evaluator chosen by the Coach, the IMHA Development Director and/or the IMHA Local League Director.

Teams will consist of a minimum of 15 players including at least 1 goalie. As this is a development program, our goal is to give as many players as possible an opportunity to participate.

Coaching applications will be posted on the IMHA website in August for the upcoming season, with a deadline for application submission due on or before August 20th. Coaches will be set in place before team balancing commences.

A minimum of 15 players must be confirmed prior to the league scheduling meeting and a representative of the team must attend the Rostered Select scheduling meeting in October in order to be eligible for the season.

Players who are selected to play on a Rostered Select team will continue to play with their Local League team. Rostered Select teams will be given the opportunity to take part in up to 10 extra practices, up to 3 exhibition games per month and may enter up to 3 Rostered Select tournaments during the season.  Rules for exhibition games and tournaments apply and travel permits will need to be submitted and approved before the event.

Players will be made aware that their first responsibility is to their Local League team. IMHA will make every effort to plan games and practices around players’ individual Local League team schedule. For this reason, it is imperative that planning takes place before the Local League scheduling meeting at the end of September.

The IMHA Rostered Select Program is funded separately from Local League Registration. The cost for the entire program, including but not limited to, Practice Ice, Game ice, Referees, Tournaments and other costs associated with the running of the team, is the sole responsibility of the individual Rostered Select team. These fees can be fundraised at the team’s discretion and in compliance with IMHA fundraising policies.

Team officials will prepare an expected budget once the team is confirmed and prior to the beginning of the Rostered Select season.  This must be submitted to and approved by the IMHA treasurer.
