Innisfil Winterhawks U9LL Team 2 continued their impressive season with another outstanding showing at the Ange Giajnorio Memorial Winter Thaw Niagara Tournament, earning a second consecutive
silver medal and solidifying themselves as true competitors.
From the start, Team 2 worked like dogs, battling through every shift and earning their way into the semi-finals with determination and grit. Their effort paid off in a strong semi-final performance, where they played as a complete team and secured a 4–2 victory to punch their ticket to the finals.
Awaiting them was a formidable opponent — an undefeated team that had yet to be challenged all tournament. Rising to the occasion, Team 2 delivered an incredible performance in the championship game. After three intense periods, the teams were deadlocked at 5–5 in a thrilling, back-and-forth battle.
The game moved to a 4-on-4, five-minute sudden victory overtime, where both teams pushed hard but neither could find the back of the net. It all came down to a dramatic shootout, with chances at both ends and no shortage of excitement.
In the end, Team 2 earned a hard-fought silver medal, marking them as back-to-back tournament finalists — an impressive accomplishment that speaks to their resilience, teamwork, and never-quit attitude.
