The Innisfil Winterhawks U9LL Team 2 delivered an outstanding performance at the IMHA Winterhawks Winter Classic, capturing a well-earned silver medal in their first tournament of the season.
The tournament began with a slow but steady start, as Team 2 battled to a 1–1 tie in Game 1. Shaking off the early nerves, the team found their stride in Game 2 with a gritty 3–2 victory. Momentum continued to build in Game 3, where a strong team effort secured a 5–3 win and punched their ticket to the semi-finals.
In an exciting all-Winterhawks matchup, Team 2 faced Innisfil Winterhawks U9LL Team 3 in a hard-fought semi-final battle. After three intense periods, the scoreboard read 3–3. With the game on the line in 3-on-3 overtime, Team 2 dug deep and found the back of the net, clinching their spot in the championship final.
The gold medal game was filled with end-to-end action and relentless compete. After 30 minutes of back-and-forth hockey, Team 2 came up just short in a thrilling 3–2 finish, earning a proud silver medal performance.
