Hometown Hockey Success: Innisfil Winterhawks U7 Select Team Shines at Buffalo River Outdoor Classic
The Innisfil Winterhawks U7 Select hockey team made an
impressive showing at the Buffalo River Outdoor Classic Jamboree this past
weekend, competing from Friday, March 28th, to Sunday, March 30th. Despite
facing older and more experienced teams, these young athletes showcased
incredible heart, determination, and passion for the game.
Composed entirely of 2018-born players, the Winterhawks
battled against 2016 and 2017-born teams throughout the tournament. However,
the age and size difference didn’t shake their commitment to representing the
Winterhawks and Canada on the international stage.
Over the course of the weekend, the team competed against
opponents from Rochester, Pennsylvania, New York State, and Listowel, Ontario.
Coach Steve Hopkins and the entire coaching staff were
beyond proud of their team’s resilience, skill, and unwavering love for hockey.
Parents and supporters also praised the young players for their sportsmanship
and dedication.
“These kids gave it their all every single game,” said Coach
Hopkins. “Competing against older teams didn’t faze them. They showed skill,
heart, and a true love for the game. We couldn’t be more proud of how they
represented the Winterhawks and our community this weekend, what a great end to
our season”
The Innisfil Winterhawks U7 Select team’s performance at the
Buffalo River Outdoor Classic proves that this group of young athletes has a
bright future in hockey.
