Dear
IMHA Families,
As
we head into the high-energy playoff season, it is a great time to remind
everyone about the values that underpin Innisfil Minor Hockey Association and
the broader hockey community.
Hockey
is more than just a game; it’s about respect, teamwork, and community.
Recently, there have been concerns regarding conduct within our arenas,
including inappropriate behavior directed at players, officials, bench staff,
town staff, visiting teams, other spectators, and more. While we appreciate the
passion and energy that our families bring to the rink, it is crucial to
remember that we are all role models for the young athletes on the ice.
We
kindly ask all families to adhere to the following principles:
- Respect for All Participants: Players, officials, coaches, and other
spectators deserve to be treated with respect at all times. Yelling at
referees, criticizing players or coaches, and displaying unsportsmanlike
behavior undermine the spirit of the game.
- Positive Atmosphere: Our arenas are safe spaces for learning and
growth. Please help us foster a positive environment where our young
athletes can thrive, free from negativity or hostility.
- Conduct Toward Volunteers: Our coaches, bench staff, and league
officials dedicate countless volunteer hours to provide a great hockey
experience. They deserve encouragement and respect for their efforts.
- Model Sportsmanship: Remember, our players take cues from the
adults around them. Let’s model behaviors that reflect kindness, respect,
and the values of fair play.
- Compliance with Hockey Canada Standards: As part of the broader Hockey Canada
community, we are committed to upholding the standards of conduct outlined
in their bylaws and codes of conduct, which emphasize respect, safety, and
inclusivity. (CLICK

We
understand that hockey can be an emotional game, especially during playoffs,
but it is essential that we all work together to maintain a respectful and
supportive environment both on and off the ice.
Let’s
continue to make Innisfil Minor Hockey a community that fosters not just great
players but great people.
Thank
you for your continued support and understanding.
Board
of Directors, Innisfil Minor Hockey
