As we gear up for an exciting playoff season, I wanted to bring your
attention to a crucial update from the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) that
will come into effect today, February 1, 2024 – the Ontario Dressing Room
Policy.
The OHF, in collaboration with Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO)
and Hockey Northwestern Ontario (HNO), has introduced this policy with a
primary focus on enhancing the inclusivity and safety of all participants
involved in hockey teams or officiating teams across the province. The dressing
rooms are designated as team spaces meant to foster a welcoming, equitable,
inclusive, and safe environment for everyone involved.
To address concerns such as maltreatment, bullying, and
harassment in dressing rooms, the policy now outlines minimum attire and
supervision requirements. Additionally, it includes a provision to accommodate
individuals who may require additional measures or support.
We understand that adapting to this policy may present some
challenges initially, but we kindly request all teams within Innisfil Minor Hockey to review, discuss, and do their best to adhere to these guidelines
with their players.
